How to be confident in your style

  • Fake it till you make it.

Yes, you read that right. It’s a cliche saying but it works. Pretend till you start believing it.

  • Never walk out the door feeling unsure about an outfit choice.

Going off the previous point again. Believe it. Believe in what you wear. If you’re confident in your outfit, no one can stop you.

  • Learn how to dress for your body.

Learn what fits you best, what is flattering for your body. I believe anyone can wear anything but keeping in mind your body type can be a starting point if you want it

  • Define your personal style

Think of how to make outfits your own. Add your own unique touch to everything you wear.

  • Spend five extra minutes getting ready in the morning.

Give yourself the time to take a step back and take another look at your outfit. What can you add? Is there something you can style differently?

●  Get rid of clothes that make you feel bad

Don’t compromise and wear something you don’t like. Your style and how you express yourself isn’t a point of compromise.

  • Wear what makes you happy

Yes. It’ll show. A core pillar of your confidence in your style is your happiness.

  • Focus on your inner monologue

Pay attention to the things you say to yourself all-day in your head. Do you talk to yourself with respect and compassion, like you do with your closest friends? Your words and phrasing can make all the difference

  • Get comfortable in your body

Your body is your best friend not your enemy. You’re dressing yourself not hiding your body with whatever.

  • Don’t be scared to experiment

Clothes are not permanent. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your style and try different things.

●  Find a style role model

It can help to see things from another perspective. Pick a person in the public eye or even someone you know who shares your insecurities and see how they deal with that. Or someone that has a style close to yours and take inspiration from them.

Confidence isn’t easy but it’s acquired and can always be increased and worked on. Worry less and embrace yourself more.
