Dressing for summer

Summer is finally here and with it comes the heat of the sun. I bring you some tips and tricks to maintain your fashion while managing the heat

  • CHOOSE NATURAL FIBERS TO BEAT THE HEAT.

Cotton or linen are your best friend. Try your best to stay away from synthetic fibers.

  • EMBRACE LOOSE, FLOWY STYLES.

Loose-fitting clothing is your go to for staying cool in the summer. Go for cropped, wide-leg pants, loose shirts, oversize blouses, and dresses and skirts with room to breathe.

  • WHITE SNEAKERS FOR THE WIN.

Basic and can be worn with almost anything

  • SWITCH IT UP WITH SUMMER SANDALS.

If boots are the winter go to, then sandals are the summer go to. Flipflops are great for beach days but for your day to day or fancy outfits, sandals work.

  • DABBLE IN A NEW HUE.

Summer is the perfect time to play with color. Experiment with new hues and be as colorful as our heart desires.

  • WEAR LIGHT-COLORED CLOTHING.

Choose light colors and white dresses and button-down shirts, which reflect, rather than absorb, the sun’s rays.

  • OPT FOR SLEEVELESS OR LOOSE SLEEVES.

The goal is to have as much airflow as possible. Consider puff-sleeve blouses. Short-sleeve button-ups are another good option.

  • DITCH JEANS.

Denim is one of the heaviest fabrics. If you wear stretch jeans or skinny jeans, you may find them too warm for your summer style.

  • RELY ON DRESSES.

Dresses aren’t just for special occasions. A comfy summer dress is an easy option for days when you don’t know what to wear.

  • MINIMIZE ACCESSORIES.

Lots of dangling necklaces or bangles can stick to your skin in the heat and be uncomfortable. Choose one statement accessory, like hoop earrings.
